How to bamboo!

Today we learned how to strip the bamboo to clean it up (using a sharp knife), and burn its surface (with an ultra cool looking customized kerosene torch) to make it black.
We also learned how the strips of bamboo are used to make various things, including small decorations and weaves.
I made a pair of earrings and a pendant using this technique and mixing it with what i have seen of filigree work (silver metal work). I realized that the concept of twirling and rolling the silver strips in filigree could be employed to make bamboo items instead. It worked quite well, and I am now the proud maker-owner of a nice-looking pair of bamboo earrings and pendant.
We started work on some other bamboo products as well, like the ipod speaker cum stand, cd stand, candle holder, etc.
A prospective customer came along as well, wanting baskets and candle stands of different types for selling along with the candles that she produces. She approved our designs and loved the split level floating candle stand idea (more details with images later!). She wants atleast 200 copies of that design and very soon, so we are unsure as to whether it will be possible to make so many so quickly. We have begun work on the prototypes to show her for the final approval.
