Yesterday, 15th august we reache Panchgani at about 4pm, we reached Panchgani. We began sketching product ideas, and concepts. (Look for them in the next post)
We met the head craftsman (Suresh sir) today.
We got a good idea of the kinds of products they make and the problems with the products.
Problems:
-No good locking system for curtain rod holders
-Bamboo needs to be treated for prevention of fungus
-Not very good finish
-Better advertising is needed
-Website with online payment required
-Low production
Possibilities/opportunities:
-Integrating cane in very small ways for better finish
-Treatment for strength, better finish and anti-fungus
-Leaves used for thatching roofs of bamboo huts to be grown in art village (already started, grows very quickly)
-Integrating technology for high end and everyday products
We have specified the bamboo sizes that we would require for making protoypes which will be brought in today.
3 pm we start working.
